This is a magical and colourful evening filled with stories. It begins as a light-footed, whirling fairy tale with Strauss’s waltz A Thousand and One Nights, and continues with fiery Spanish energy in Manuel de Falla’s songs. Later we enter a dream world with Ravel’s oriental songs from ShéhérazadeFinally, Schönberg’s Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night) will be performed, an incredibly intense, expressive piece for strings that tells a story of deep love and forgiveness under the night sky.
