Gustav Rørmark (b. 2001) is a Norwegian violinist who is currently studying a master’s degree at the Norwegian Academy of Music with Professor Henning Kraggerud. Before this he attended the talent program at the Barratt Due Institute of Music.
Gustav has won a number of prizes both as a soloist and chamber musician. He has won his category in the Midgard Competition, the Youth Music Championship (Ungdommens Musikkmesterskap), the Sparre Olsen Competition, and took first place in the Nordstrand Music Competition in 2017. He has also been awarded 1st Prize in the regional finals of Jugend musiziert in both Moscow (2013) and Paris (2015). As a chamber musician he has received prizes both nationally and internationally, including at the Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival in Lucca, Italy.
Gustav is first and foremost a chamber musician. He performs regularly with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and has appeared at chamber music festivals such as the Oslo Chamber Music Festival, the Bergen International Festival, the Trondheim Chamber Music Festival and Fjord Classics.
In addition to his classical training, he performs in many other genres such as folk music, pop, jazz, tango and bluegrass. He often combines different genres with improvisation and classical repertoire, creating a unique artistic expression.
