Njord Fossnes (b. 2001) is a Norwegian violinist, violist and composer that studies at New England Conservatory with Kim Kashkashian. Fossnes is a prize-winner as both a soloist and a chamber musician at multiple national and international competitions such as the Midgard Competition, Youth National Music Competition, Virtuoso & BelCanto International Competition. Furthermore, he was in 2018 the youngest participant at the prestigious ARD International Music Competition and won in 2021 second prize in the first ever Hindemith International Viola Competition. Fossnes has also appeared as a soloist in Bartok Viola Concerto, Mozart Sinfonia Concertante and Hindemith Kammermusik 5 in addition to Kurt Atterbergs Suite for violin, viola and orchestra with violinist Gustav Rørmark and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra. Njord is also an avid composer and his work Etyde was in 2018 performed by the Oslo Philharmonic.
